Another stormy day

I am not sure how the farmers are going to do it this season with all this rain! Farmers are unable to cut hay because of all the rain which is becoming a more serious problem as the number of rainy days continues to climb! It makes me anxious and I don't cut hay for a living but I know some goats at our place that count on hay every night that might not have any.....
I had a very special visitor today...she came all the way from Maryland just to come to my store(well, that is how the story goes in my mind!)....... This little girl traveled all by herself on a plane to meet up with her gramma and grandpa in Albany and she is only 5! She loved up Piglet whilst she was here(and also enjoyed one of our yummy honey sticks and brought home another 12 to share later!) and Piglet had a great big smile on his face when she left!!
Today was a busy day so not much time to slack and blog.......maybe there will be more time tomorrow. And hopefully it will be a rain free Friday too!! One more week and it will be the Washington County fair! Yippeee!!!

Rain, Rain go Away!

My farmer friends are telling me that they have had enough with the everyday rain!! And just between you and me, I have had it with the constant(or it feels that way) humidity. I am not one to enjoy living in a greenhouse even if I like what comes out of them! I heard of one farm where they have erected temporary bridges to get into their fields to harvest. Now that is just ridiculous! Can we coin the phase global raining?

Well, the peaches arrived this morning and they are DELICIOUS! I have been promised pears AND plums in the next day or so......Yummy!!

And yesterday after I posted my sad tale of no cuties coming in to visit.......two of my favs came in-Josh and Matthew, which made my day!! And this morning, Lexleigh made her appearance and only un-stocked half of the health and beauty section which made her mother, Hollie(who seems to ALWAYS want to come in with her-she never leaves that kid alone!) very happy! Moms seem to often stress over their kids un-stocking and re-stocking my store and I am just happy that they came in! Lexleigh gave Piglet a very big hug for which he was very grateful for since he had just spent his first night in the store alone and needed extra reassuring that we were here for the day! And now, I have just found out that my previous employee(he,he), Charlotte(the original unstock/restock girl), is on her way down here with her little brother, Oliver, who was born on Leap day this year....so cute! Did I mention Charlotte is having a birthday this month? Yup, she is going to be a whooping 3(or is it 4-my memory fails me again!) years old. She got a jump start on the whole employment thing. Her parents wanted to see how she would do.... She was great but her mom was such a slacker......late for work, lots of breaks for snacks......just kidding! I love them both and wish they could visit more often. And I hope not to miss the birthday party if I am still invited....
It is good that Charlotte is coming down to the store because then she and I can sing the "Henry" song to make my delivery come quicker. My delivery is very late today and in the past when it was late when Charlotte and I worked together we would sing the "Henry" song, sung to the tune of Henry the 8th and then Henry, the truck driver would magically appear. And he is generally a grumpy sort but Charlotte could always cheer him up!! I think he was quite fond of our little employee! I don't have near as much charm to cheer up the old fellow but I try every week.
Back to work, slacker!!

Today is our first post!

Greenwich Local Market is taking the plunge into Blogland!!
Today has been a day filled with deliveries but no adorable little children to bring a smile to my sorry old face! Adorable pre-teen youngsters but no babies or toddlers to unstock the shelves and show me their restocking capabilities for future employment! An old friend sent me a 3 foot Piglet that has been getting some attention from a couple of youngsters but he is still pretty shy being new to the store and all. Hopefully, all of the regular youngsters will welcome him and show him that he is a loved new addition!
There is a steady stream of veggies coming our way now that summer is in full bloom and our customers are loving it. We currently have sweet corn, summer squash, potatoes, cucumbers, garlic, greens, sprouts, blueberries and coming tomorrow will be peaches!! Locally grown right over the hills in Cambridge!
Tomorrow is also delivery day so there will be lots of new yummies to try in the coming days..........stop down and see us!!
