new toy

Guess what......I got an I Phone for my birthday and I have been in love since then....It is a cool, sleak new gadget that does pretty much everything but brush my teeth! I recommend it for anyone who works at home when they aren't working at work! And so easy to use... enough said.....mabye I could be a spokesperson for Apple!
My other new distraction is on the TV.......it is The Rachel Maddow show.......she is so right on with all that is happening in the US(and the world for that matter) these days......I end up staying up later than I should just to watch her!! I would not define myself as someone who is very political but this years election has me watching all that is going on and I watch Rachel to hear the real truth. Plus she makes me laugh which in this current environment of fear and mistrust is a welcome relief....Keep up the great work, Rachel!!! MSNBC made a wonderful choice when they picked her in my humble health food store owner's opinion. She was great last night talking about the debate and "Joe" the plumber....did I mention she is funny too?

So about the store.......
I had lots of birthday wishes....thank you to all! But I think the best was over last weekend 6 young boys sang me happy birthday......some old fans of mine and some new but it was so sweet.....I loved it!! It made me remember why I love my birthday so much....besides the presents......I have adorable little boys singing to me!

Back to School...Yahooo!!

It is incredible to me how the end of August and early September just "feel" like Fall. I don't know if it is the beginning of school or the smell of apples ripening or the seemingly drastic darkening of the evenings but it never ceases to amaze me how Fall just arrives. It is different than any other season......possibly because it is my favorite that I pay closer attention......but it is beautiful to me how it just appears....the nights get cooler(which I love!)and the leaves start turning and my dog stops swimming in the smelly pond on our property!! All welcome arrivals......

It used to be that the start of school meant only 4 more weeks until my birthday but since 40 it has started to lose it's draw......now don't get me wrong I still love my birthday.....presents and cake all for me......but it just ain't like it was when I was a kid no matter how hard I try!! A couple of years ago I had a birthday party for myself at a corn maze with a bunch of friends and we had such a great time even though it rained! This year I will be spending my birthday in Atlanta, we will see how the South treats a Northeaster on her birthday!!

I have rearranged the store in anticipation of the arrival of office products from our friends at Excel Office Products in Hoosick Falls. We will have a bunch of products like pens, paper, scissors, rulers, etc in the store but we will also have a catalog that one can order from with next day delivery in most cases. We should have the display set up by early next week so please stop down and see the new addition and forget those long drives to Staples in Saratoga just come downtown and see me :)

Camp Little Notch........

I went up to visit this beautiful(girl scout camp) place over the weekend and it is still as serene a place as it used to be. It is just outside the Adirondack park but you wouldn't know that.........it is as Adirondack as it gets if you ask me! Visited with lots of old camp staff and reminisced about "the good old days". Ahhhhh......summer!

So back to work! My distributor rep. was just in here and she gave me lots of new goodies to try(and buy) and some I am sure I will........ You all have to stop in here now and ask "What new stuff do you have,Margaret?"

Speaking of new products, I wanted to let everyone know that I am going to have office and school supplies in the store soon. I am going to carry some products from Excel Office Products, whose main store is in Hoosick Falls but will have a satellite here. Isn't that exciting? No more trips to Saratoga to get copy paper or a stapler......just come here and I will have it for you and if it happens to be out of stock I will have it the next day!! Yippee!!!

It is time for the fair!!

I have been remiss in the last week with my posting! I apologize to those suffering the effects of GLM blog withdrawal. I will try to be better and not leave you for more than one a day at a time.
Did anyone see the moon over the weekend? Wow what a spectacular full moon-or at least I thought it was full. And where I was in New Hampshire on Saturday and Sunday, there were even white puffy clouds during the day that I haven't seen here in Washington County all summer!
Speaking of Washington County, this is fair week!! Talk about local-this is the only time that the farmers come out to socialize!! Well probably that is an exaggeration but it is a time for them to show off all of their hard work. Whether it be animals or creations, lots and lots of local folks show at the fair. I used to do just that back in my 4-H days. I worked hard all year(my other 4-H mates might scoff at my saying I worked hard!) to be able to compete at the fair. It was and still is an exciting time of year for me and many others I might bet. If you go to the fair, make sure you stop and peruse the County Bounty building. We will be there Thursday night, stop in and say hello!!

Holy Toledo Batman!!

Did you see the stars on Saturday night? What an absolutely beautiful night it was.... I feel like we have had so few this summer and that night was a gem!! We even had a campfire it was so nice!! I said good-bye to 10 of my keets(baby guinea fowl) yesterday. It was kind of bittersweet seeing them go off to a new family happy to have their raucousness around their farm. We started out with 22 of the little ones and we have lost a few in their 4 short weeks of life and now we have only 5 left. They will join the adults in a month or two once they get bigger and they will hopefully earn their keep eating lots and lots of bugs and nasty deer ticks like the rest of the flock!!
I apologize for missing a few days of posts.........its been busy here at the store...yippee!!
On Friday, I had the pleasure of babysitting for a bit in the afternoon for Olivia, a 5 month old whose mom works down the street. What a joy she was.....she has definitely got a job here in a year or two if she wants it. I think she would be a sturdy un-stocker and reliable too!! hehe!! I also got a very unexpected AND lovely(albeit too short!)visit from "my" twins, Emma and Bennett(and their mom and gramma too!) They are growing so fast.... I remember when they were just tiny little premies...... Now, ato 8 years old Emma is almost up to my shoulder and will be as tall as me(which isnt a high height to reach)before you know it!! They too have a job here if they want one!!
Well it is time to get back to work on this dreary(again!) Monday....
Peace out!

Another stormy day

I am not sure how the farmers are going to do it this season with all this rain! Farmers are unable to cut hay because of all the rain which is becoming a more serious problem as the number of rainy days continues to climb! It makes me anxious and I don't cut hay for a living but I know some goats at our place that count on hay every night that might not have any.....
I had a very special visitor today...she came all the way from Maryland just to come to my store(well, that is how the story goes in my mind!)....... This little girl traveled all by herself on a plane to meet up with her gramma and grandpa in Albany and she is only 5! She loved up Piglet whilst she was here(and also enjoyed one of our yummy honey sticks and brought home another 12 to share later!) and Piglet had a great big smile on his face when she left!!
Today was a busy day so not much time to slack and blog.......maybe there will be more time tomorrow. And hopefully it will be a rain free Friday too!! One more week and it will be the Washington County fair! Yippeee!!!
